Role overview
Wing is hiring a Program Manager, Hardware Engineering Project Specialist to join its Technical Program Management team in a full-time position based onsite in San Francisco, CA. The role is best suited to a highly driven professional who thrives in a fast-moving environment and has strong experience with hardware development, manufacturing workflows, vendor coordination, and contract manufacturers. Familiarity with product data management and product lifecycle management systems such as Agile, along with understanding of hardware BOM structures and change control processes, is important. The position calls for someone who can solve complex problems with practical solutions and adapt quickly.
Key work areas
- Support hardware development builds by traveling as needed and overseeing product labeling and build documentation.
- Own the NPI build matrix, including system configuration decoding, readiness tracking, parallel engineering paths, investigations, and configuration management.
- Run weekly build-readiness discussions with contract manufacturing partners and train them on related deliverables such as build-matrix interpretation, allocation and shipment planning, and database usage.
- Maintain the system allocation database, guide allocation decisions, monitor delivery timelines, ensure product groups receive materials on time, and keep the device tracking tool current.
- Partner with product development, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering teams to make sure BOMs are ready in Agile before builds begin.
- Track NPI build assets and keep related records organized.
- Provide support across systems, modules, or sustaining workstreams depending on business needs.
Candidate profile
The role requires at least 5 years of program management experience in hardware development and 5 years of experience working with contract manufacturers or vendors in hardware product lifecycles. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, though equivalent experience is acceptable. Strong organization, advanced spreadsheet management, cross-functional coordination, multitasking, prioritization, and process/tool management skills are essential. The ideal candidate will also bring leadership, project management, and supply chain management capability, along with excellent written and verbal communication, analysis, interpersonal skill, motivation, strong results orientation, and a sharp eye for detail.
Compensation and benefits
The US base salary range for this role is $174,000 to $185,000 per year. In addition to base pay, the package may include bonus, equity, and benefits, with the exact range dependent on role level and location.
