Lilly is also developing a next-generation biotech drug substance manufacturing facility in Limerick, Ireland. This site is being built as a highly advanced manufacturing operation with modern technologies, data collection and analytics capabilities designed to strengthen safety, quality, productivity, and consistency.
Role Overview
The Process Cleaning Representative will support the cleaning program for process equipment and associated components within Lilly’s biotechnology manufacturing operations in Limerick.
This is a technical position, and candidates must meet the experience and qualification requirements described below.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Engineering and Quality teams to shape the cleaning strategy for the Limerick monoclonal facility.
- Take ownership of the facility’s Cleaning Validation Master Plan.
- Prepare cleaning validation protocols and final summary reports.
- Carry out cleaning validation activities, including visual checks, sampling, and coordination with supporting teams such as Operations, Maintenance, and Laboratory functions.
- Draft cleaning procedures and related work instructions for all equipment.
- Create cleaning batch records and other documents needed to carry out cleaning tasks on the production floor.
- Review completed cleaning batch records and supporting documentation.
- Investigate problems and support improvements to cleaning cycles and cleaning equipment.
- Support cleaning-related deviations and events, including root cause analysis.
- Manage changes linked to cleaning equipment, cleaning cycles, and the overall cleaning program.
- Complete periodic review reports for critical components to confirm cleaning equipment remains in a qualified condition.
Additional Skills and Preferences
- Practical understanding of cleaning systems such as CIP skids and parts washers, as well as cleaning methods including chemical and recirculated wash approaches.
- Familiarity with qualification and validation expectations, along with strong documentation discipline.
- Knowledge of biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes and production scheduling.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and also contribute effectively within a cross-functional team of management, production/science, and engineering professionals.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities may change quickly and deadlines are tight.
Education and Experience
A BSc (Hons) in Engineering or Science is required, along with 2 years of similar experience supporting cleaning programs for process equipment and ancillary components in a pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing site.
Language Requirement
English proficiency is required.
