Role Overview
The Principal Project Planner will be responsible for planning and scheduling support across assigned projects, including design and/or construction phases. This role requires close coordination with project teams, clients, vendors, and other disciplines to maintain progress, manage resources, and support project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare manhour budgets, project schedules, workforce loading plans, and staffing plans based on project needs and direction from the Discipline Manager.
- Make sure project coverage is maintained during vacations and unexpected absences.
- Coach, mentor, and help deliver training to team members.
- Support the employee performance review process.
- Help ensure continuity of work when team members exit the project.
- Promote awareness of and adherence to relevant procedures, requirements, and workflows.
- Address and help resolve issues involving different disciplines, vendors, and customers.
- Ensure all discipline work and team activities comply with health, safety, environmental, and security standards.
- Provide planning support during the design and/or construction stages of assigned projects.
- Coordinate with clients on cost-related matters and provide timely inputs for monthly invoice preparation.
- Build schedules, allocate resources, identify critical paths, and assess project duration.
- Set up effective progress tracking and progress reporting for engineering, procurement, and construction in line with EMS guidelines.
Education and Professional Qualifications
- A full-time bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university is required.
- MME engineering accreditation is mandatory. Candidates who do not yet have it must be willing to obtain it during the probation period.
- PMP certification from PMI and/or AACE certification, or an equivalent accreditation from a recognized project management body, is expected.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Enterprise Primavera Portfolio Management (P7, P6.2) and Primavera Contract Management is required.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Project and Pertmaster 8 for risk analysis is required.
- Certification in Enterprise Primavera Portfolio and Contract Management would be advantageous.
Industry Experience
- Substantial planning and cost control experience in the oil and gas sector, particularly on offshore and onshore projects, is required.
- Extensive hands-on experience in project planning and scheduling, TIC and services cost management, earned value analysis, risk analysis, cash flow tracking, invoicing, performance measurement, milestones, and project auditing is expected.
