People Operations Consultant

About the opportunity

ASB is seeking a People Operations Consultant to join its People Operations team in Auckland. The role is central to delivering smooth, high-quality people services across the employee lifecycle, helping leaders and employees have a positive experience through reliable processes, accurate information, and a mindset of ongoing improvement.

In this position, you will provide full-cycle operational support, working closely with the wider People team, people leaders, and other stakeholders to handle queries, complete transactions, and improve service delivery. The role requires a mix of hands-on delivery, problem-solving, and strong stakeholder communication, along with care for detail, flexibility, and a focus on continuous improvement.

Key duties

• Provide prompt and accurate operational support throughout the employee lifecycle.
• Process employee data and transactions with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Respond to queries from employees and leaders via ticketing and contact channels.
• Offer guidance on people processes, policies, and systems.
• Work with stakeholders to support important people initiatives and service delivery.
• Look for opportunities to improve processes, systems, and the employee experience.
• Make sure all work meets risk, compliance, and legal obligations.
• Protect employee information by maintaining strong data integrity and confidentiality.
• Help build a collaborative and high-performing team culture.

What you should bring

ASB is looking for someone with strong customer focus, sound judgement, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently producing quality outcomes. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, with the confidence to manage volume, solve problems, and contribute to better ways of working.

• Experience in People Operations, HR administration, or a comparable role.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage high workloads accurately and efficiently.
• Good understanding of HR processes, systems, and data management.
• Awareness of risk, compliance, and confidentiality in a people-focused environment.
• Experience with Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) is an advantage.
• Capability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a team.
• A practical, improvement-focused approach to solving problems.
• Strong organisation and attention to detail.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Word, Outlook, and Excel.
