Role overview
We are looking for a Payroll Officer to manage payroll activities end to end in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on accurate processing, timely completion, reconciliations, statutory compliance, and close coordination with internal teams to keep employee payroll records correct and audit-ready.
Key responsibilities
- Run the full payroll cycle from start to finish, making sure every payroll transaction is processed accurately, on time, and in full.
- Draft, check, and record payroll journal entries in the general ledger in line with accounting standards.
- Complete monthly payroll reconciliations, then investigate and fix any mismatches or variances.
- Maintain compliance with relevant labour laws, tax rules, and other regulatory obligations.
- Compute and process employee-related payments and entitlements such as allowances, leave encashment, and end-of-service benefits.
- Prepare and file required reports within the specified deadlines.
- Keep payroll documentation current and well-organised so records remain accurate and ready for audit review.
- Assist internal and external audits by supplying payroll records, supporting documents, and clarifications when needed.
- Work with HC to verify employee information and ensure compensation data is aligned correctly.
- Look for ways to strengthen payroll controls, improve workflows, and increase system efficiency.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar field.
- At least 3 years of experience handling payroll accounting.
- Solid understanding of payroll accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation procedures.
- Practical knowledge of labour legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience using payroll systems and ERP tools, especially Oracle.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
