The position is centered on building strong payroll operations, maintaining compliance, and supporting employees with accurate and timely payroll-related service.
About PaperCut
PaperCut describes itself as a BCorp-certified Australian technology company with a mission to make printing waste-free, simple, and secure. Its platform serves customers across 195 countries and supports 140 million end users. The company is expanding beyond traditional print management into cloud and SaaS solutions, while remaining founder-led and based in Melbourne.
What the Role Involves
- Strengthen payroll processes and systems rather than simply running payroll transactions.
- Act as the go-to specialist for regional statutory payroll obligations and keep all payments compliant, accurate, and ready for audit review.
- Work with People & Culture and Finance to assess new employee benefits and provide forecast cost data for global planning.
- Improve the employee experience by making benefits easy to access and by responding promptly and accurately to payroll questions.
- Handle monthly and annual reconciliations and accounting entries, turning payroll data into reliable financial reports.
What You Should Bring
- A highly detail-oriented approach and a strong commitment to accuracy and deadlines.
- The ability to influence, advise, and coach stakeholders in ways that support business growth and commercial objectives.
- Solid knowledge of Australian payroll compliance, including superannuation, state taxes, and WorkCover, along with broader accounting fundamentals.
- Strong communication skills for partnering with teams and explaining payroll information clearly to employees.
- Confidence using payroll systems, automation tools, and Excel for fast execution and analysis.
Why PaperCut
- A workplace guided by the values Caring, Honest, Intelligent, and Nimble (CHIN).
- An Australian-owned company with deep roots in Melbourne and ongoing founder leadership.
- Eligibility for a Share the Success bonus for permanent employees.
- Opportunities to contribute to strategic decisions through collaborative leadership groups and work with a high degree of autonomy.
- Generous leave provisions, including up to 18 weeks of parental leave.
- A genuine commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
