Officer - Procurement

Role objective

This position is focused on ensuring that raw materials and components are available in line with agreed delivery dates and the production plan. The role requires close coordination with suppliers, internal teams, and escalation channels to keep material flow aligned with manufacturing needs.

The incumbent will also build the raw material delivery plan against purchase orders, factoring in supplier capacity and production requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Take the lead in supplier coordination with a proactive, ownership-driven approach to secure deliveries on time.
• Create and review scheduling lines after purchase order release so that supplier commitments match plant demand.
• Monitor supplier delivery performance, highlight urgent slippages, and keep monthly supply plans on track.
• Use the vendor portal as a communication and issue-resolution channel with suppliers.
• Work with planning and plant stakeholders to maintain safety stock levels while using storage space efficiently.
• Build and update procurement dashboards for tracking performance and preparing reports.

Procurement and P2P ownership

• Handle the complete procure-to-pay cycle with attention to process compliance and operational efficiency.
• Raise and manage orders in SAP MM, covering domestic and import procurement transactions.
• Work with different Incoterms while handling import-related buying activities.
• Implement engineering change notices and ensure rejected material is disposed of within the required timelines.
• Apply procurement payment terms such as LC and BG in transaction handling.

Inventory and material control

• Manage raw material stocks and adjust lead times based on plant requirements.
• Track and report the availability of raw materials and components against the production schedule.

Governance and compliance

• Ensure procurement activities follow applicable tax, safety, and environmental rules.
• Use 5S practices, QC tools, and process control charts to improve procurement operations.
• Contribute to broader SCM initiatives spanning logistics, planning, strategic sourcing, and supplier development.

Desired background

The role calls for strong analytical ability and clear communication. The candidate should have exposure to vendor negotiation, import/export regulations, and compliance requirements. Hands-on SAP end-user experience is important. Experience in the automobile or consumer durable industry is required, along with familiarity in handling metals, plastics, packaging, and fabrication items.

Qualification and experience

BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering is required. The expected experience range is 6 to 8 years.
