Role overview
The position focuses on planning, deploying, and supporting network infrastructure that delivers strong availability, performance, and protection. The work spans LAN/WAN environments, wireless connectivity, VPNs, and VNETs, with an emphasis on keeping systems stable and secure.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, configure, and roll out network infrastructure across LAN/WAN, wireless, VPN, and VNET environments.
- Track network health, investigate faults, and carry out routine checks to maintain service quality.
- Apply and maintain security controls such as firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention, and network segmentation.
- Work with security and infrastructure platforms including AD, MFA, Clearpass, ESXi, PMP, PIM, PAM, ELA, SIEM, SEM, SEP, and SCOM.
- Tune traffic flow and support capacity planning to keep the network efficient as demand grows.
- Create and maintain clear records of network layouts, settings, and troubleshooting steps.
- Coordinate with external vendors for support, upkeep, and purchasing needs.
- Guide and support junior colleagues with technical direction when needed.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a similar discipline is expected; equivalent practical experience may also be accepted.
- At least 6 years of practical experience in designing, implementing, and administering network infrastructure.
- Hands-on exposure to enterprise networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points.
- Solid understanding of core networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, MPLS, and QoS.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA Network+, JNCIA, or similar are preferred.
- Experience using monitoring and diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, and PRTG.
- Working knowledge of cloud networking in AWS and Azure, plus hybrid infrastructure setups.
- Exposure to SD-WAN, VPN technologies, and data centre environments including VMware NSX, Hyper-V, and ESXi.
- Ability to use scripting or automation tools such as Python and Ansible is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills are required.
