Role overview
This position is for a Mechanical Service Technician working from Auckland at a highly automated meat processing and distribution site. The job focuses on keeping critical equipment running safely and efficiently through maintenance, fault diagnosis, and ongoing system enhancements in a shift-based operation.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs to keep equipment operating reliably.
- Investigate equipment issues and fix faults in automated systems to reduce downtime and avoid interruptions.
- Review operational data to spot opportunities for improvement and strengthen system performance.
- Provide dependable technical support while maintaining strict food safety and hygienic workplace standards.
- Work alongside international teams in a 24/7 shift roster within a cold, temperature-controlled environment.
What the role calls for
- Practical background in mechanical or industrial maintenance, supported by a relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience.
- Strong troubleshooting ability across mechanical, electrical, and automated equipment, including PLC-based systems.
- A consistent focus on safety, quality, and compliance in regulated or food-grade settings.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to work well with others and also operate independently.
- A reliable, proactive, and flexible approach, including readiness to work shifts in physically demanding low-temperature conditions.
- Comfort using full fall-protection gear and working safely at height.
