Mechanical Design Engineer

Role Overview

Larsen & Toubro is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for its Hadgaon, Maharashtra location. The position focuses on mechanical design work, engineering documentation, and supporting new product development activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Create 3D models using SolidWorks or UG NX.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings based on 3D models.
• Perform design calculations as part of the engineering process.
• Draft reports and documents in Excel and Word.
• Work with GD&T, welding processes, and welding symbols.
• Use basic Ansys or another FEA tool for analysis support.
• Build PowerPoint presentations and other technical slides.
• Review customer documents and develop technical proposals.
• Support new product development initiatives.
• Apply DFM and DFA principles in design work.
• Ensure designs follow Trilateral, Euro Code, and other relevant international design codes.
• Design and assess welded, riveted, and bolted joints for structural parts.
• Use structural mechanics principles to improve and optimize design outcomes.
• Work with high-strength steel, aluminium, and composite materials while maintaining compliance with applicable standards.

Skills and Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with 3D CAD modelling in SolidWorks or UG NX.
• Ability to convert 3D models into accurate engineering drawings.
• Comfort with engineering calculations and technical documentation.
• Practical knowledge of GD&T, welding symbols, and fabrication concepts.
• Basic understanding of finite element analysis using Ansys or similar tools.
• Good command of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to interpret customer requirements and prepare technical proposals.
• Exposure to NPD, DFM, and DFA practices.
• Working knowledge of design codes, structural mechanics, and material selection.
• Familiarity with welded, riveted, and bolted connections for structural design.
