Role Overview
This full-time, on-site Logistics Coordinator position in Edmonton, Alberta is responsible for coordinating dispatch activities so loads, drivers, routes, and equipment are aligned for safe and timely deliveries. The role requires constant communication with drivers, customers, and internal teams to handle changes, resolve issues, and keep shipment information current. It also includes precise data entry in dispatch and transportation systems, record keeping, and preparing simple reports when needed. In addition, the position involves managing phone calls and messages, organizing competing priorities, and staying composed while handling multiple requests at once.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, assign, and track loads while keeping schedules, drivers, and equipment properly organized.
- Coordinate routes and dispatch activities to support punctual and safe delivery operations.
- Stay in touch with drivers, customers, and internal staff to share updates and resolve operational issues quickly.
- Record shipment details accurately in dispatch and transportation management software.
- Maintain logs and operational records, and assist with basic reporting as required.
- Answer incoming calls and messages and respond to requests in an organized manner.
- Manage several tasks at once, prioritize work effectively, and adjust to changing needs in real time.
- Work professionally under pressure while supporting safety, compliance, and service quality.
Requirements
- Experience in dispatch coordination and load planning, including route and schedule management.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, along with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks, follow up consistently, and shift priorities as needed.
- Comfort with accurate data entry and dispatch or transportation management systems.
- Background in trucking, logistics, or transportation dispatch is considered an advantage.
- Good judgment and problem-solving ability in time-sensitive situations.
- Careful attention to detail, dependability, and a commitment to safety and compliance.
- Willingness to work full time and occasionally extend hours or shifts when operations require it.
