Role overview
Leigh & Co. Events is a rapidly expanding wedding planning business seeking a Lead Wedding Coordinator for its 2026 season and beyond. The company offers wedding design, coordination, and planning support for engaged couples. This is a contract-based opportunity with a self-managed schedule, and training will be provided.
The role is primarily onsite and is focused on leading wedding-day execution, working closely with client experience managers before the event and assistant coordinators during the event.
Compensation
The project fee is $400 for approximately 10 to 12 hours of work, paid on a per-project basis.
Key duties
The Lead Wedding Coordinator will handle the final planning details, direct ceremony rehearsals, oversee setup, and lead the wedding day from vendor arrival through teardown. You will also act as the couple’s main onsite support, helping keep the day organized, calm, and on schedule.
Additional details
This opportunity is intended for candidates who can work weekends, manage physical event tasks, and travel reliably to event locations. The role requires carrying out event-day responsibilities while maintaining a polished client experience and handling last-minute adjustments as needed.
Requirements
Candidates should have prior wedding or event planning experience, strong communication ability, attention to detail, dependable transportation, and the physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Join a final planning call with clients about six weeks before the wedding to verify logistics, timing, and expectations.
- Run the rehearsal the day before the wedding and make sure everyone understands timing, procession order, and key cues.
- Act as the couple’s onsite lead and steady point of contact, resolving issues with a calm and practical approach.
- Supervise ceremony and reception setup according to the event design and day-of execution plan.
- Manage the wedding day timeline from vendor arrival through final breakdown.
- Welcome vendors, direct them onsite, and serve as the main contact for coordination.
- Relay setup directions to vendors so everything matches the approved plan.
- Assist with arranging personal and event details such as escort cards, menus, table numbers, favors, guest books, and décor.
- Support the wedding party and family members with timing guidance and event-day assistance.
- Ensure gifts, guest books, and other personal décor or end-of-event items are collected, packed, and accounted for.
- Respond quickly to issues or schedule changes to keep the event running smoothly.
Compensation and terms
Payment is set at $400 for each project, covering roughly 10 to 12 hours. The position is contract-based, training is included, and the company is looking to add planners for the 2026 season and future events.
Eligibility
Applicants must be available for weekend work and be able to perform onsite wedding coordination. Prior experience in wedding planning or event planning is required.
Location
Kansas City, Missouri. The role is onsite.
