About the role

The Kitchen Technician supports the upkeep, repair, and smooth operation of guest, kitchen, and building equipment. The job involves responding to maintenance requests, carrying out preventive maintenance, and handling routine repair work across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and related systems.

Key duties

• Handle guest repair requests promptly and communicate with guests or customers to resolve maintenance concerns.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Inspect tools, machines, and equipment visually and use/carry required tools and communication devices.
• Locate and operate shut-off valves for equipment and building utility systems when needed.
• Track maintenance supplies, keep inventory updated, and request parts or materials when required.
• Share daily work updates and open issues with other shifts using approved communication methods.
• Work across a range of maintenance areas, including air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, finish work, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy-saving practices, and general building upkeep.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, light bulb replacement, A/C filter replacement, and full cleanup after work is completed.
• Test and troubleshoot equipment and make basic repairs to plumbing, electrical parts, lamps, cosmetic fixtures, cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches, outlets, and other guestroom items.
• Program televisions, complete general housekeeping and engineering inventory tasks, and use the lockout/tagout system before maintenance begins.
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping elements, including sprinkler systems.
• Use basic computer tools for tasks such as entering air handler schedules and adjusting temperatures.
• Follow safety, security, quality, confidentiality, and company appearance standards at all times.
• Provide courteous guest service, support coworkers, communicate professionally, and complete other reasonable duties as assigned.

Experience and qualifications

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, along with some background in general maintenance and surface preparation/painting work. Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is considered an advantage. No supervisory experience is needed. A valid driver’s license is required.

Working style and physical demands

The role requires the ability to move, lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds without assistance, and heavier items with help. You should be comfortable using stairs, ramps, and ladders, as well as reaching overhead and below knee level, bending, twisting, stooping, and performing physically active maintenance tasks.
