Jr. Accountant

Role Overview

CORMAC is hiring a Jr. Accountant who is detail-focused, analytical, and ready to contribute to both day-to-day accounting and financial planning work. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate records, supporting reporting needs, and strengthening internal controls. The ideal hire is self-motivated, well organized, and able to thrive in a busy environment.

Accounting Responsibilities

• Post journal entries, complete reconciliations, and help drive month-end closing tasks.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and upkeep of the general ledger.
• Help prepare financial statements in line with GAAP requirements.
• Keep fixed asset records current and calculate depreciation entries.
• Assist during audits by compiling schedules and responding to questions from auditors.

Finance and Analysis Responsibilities

• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis work.
• Review financial trends, KPIs, and operational performance measures.
• Create dashboards and management-level reporting materials.
• Support scenario modeling to inform business decisions.
• Work with teams across the business to provide financial insight.

Required Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
• U.S. citizenship is required for this role.
• Between 1 and 4 years of experience in accounting combined with financial analysis.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas.
• Solid analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Capability to manage deadlines, juggle multiple priorities, and work with limited supervision.

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to government contracting accounting tools similar to PROCAS.
• Good command of GAAP, financial reporting, and government accounting concepts such as indirect rates and flexibly priced contracts.
• Hands-on experience with visualization platforms like Power BI or Tableau.
• Background in corporate finance, public accounting, or FP&A.
• Proven ability to use Power BI services for analysis and reporting.
• Experience building interactive dashboards and custom reports for live forecasting, budgeting, and performance monitoring.
• Ability to turn complex financial information into clear insights that help leadership make strategic decisions and support growth.

Location and Working Style

This role is based in Leesburg, VA, but the position is fully remote. CORMAC also notes that it offers flexible work arrangements that may include remote, hybrid, or fully in-person options.
