Role overview
DTCP is looking for an intern to join its Defence Fund investment team in Hamburg. The role offers hands-on exposure to the full investment cycle, with a focus on defence, security, and resilience technology infrastructure. Interviews are held on a rolling basis, and the earliest start date is Autumn 2026.
About DTCP
DTCP is an independent investment management firm with more than EUR 4.5 billion in assets under management and a team of over 60 professionals. Through DTCP Defence, the firm invests from Series A to Series C in companies with strong technology advantages, scalable business models, and clear strategic relevance to Europe’s capability needs. The fund targets areas such as resilient homeland systems, industrial deterrence, space-enabled infrastructure, and robust software-led platforms designed for demanding environments.
The fund intends to back up to 25 companies, with an average investment size of around EUR 20 million. Its broader goal is to help build category-leading businesses and strengthen Europe’s long-term technology and security infrastructure. DTCP has a long track record in IT and security investing, including a portfolio with cybersecurity and AI companies.
What you will do
- Help shape investment theses by researching selected sectors and domains, building expertise, and supporting the development of investment frameworks.
- Source potential investments by identifying emerging European companies in defence, security, and resilience technology.
- Prepare shortlists of promising opportunities, perform early-stage assessments, and present findings to the team.
- Support live deal work by contributing to financial models, market analysis, competitor reviews, reference checks, and other due diligence tasks.
- Assist with portfolio company support on financial, operational, and strategic topics, including tracking progress against growth milestones.
What we are looking for
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, business, engineering, or a similar discipline.
- Previous exposure to investment banking, consulting, private equity, venture capital, and/or technology startups.
- Strong interest in geopolitics, security and defence, emerging technologies, and innovation.
- Excellent analytical ability, strategic judgment, and a very high level of attention to detail.
- A confident, positive, self-driven, and energetic mindset, along with strong learning agility.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken, plus solid presentation skills.
- Good working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
- Eligibility to work legally in the EU.
- Ability to satisfy the reliability requirements under Sec. 1 (20) Nos. 1 to 3 GwG.
Additional information
The internship runs for 5 to 6 months and is based in Hamburg. No German language skills are required. The selection process consists of interviews with the team and a case study.
