Role Overview

The State of West Virginia is hiring a detail-focused Inspector 2 in Huttonsville, WV. This position is responsible for carrying out routine, complex, and special inspections across the facility to help maintain strong safety, compliance, and operational standards. The role also includes training newly hired staff on inspection methods and procedures, as well as handling investigations, surveys, and complaints with care and accuracy.

The inspector will review findings, issue appropriate actions based on inspection outcomes, and prepare recommendations that support compliance with all relevant laws, rules, and regulations, including ACA Regulatory Laws and Regulations. This is a hands-on position that may require working a security post when needed and completing a mandatory weekly 12-hour security shift. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Compensation Notes

• A $5,000 increase is added to the minimum starting rate for classifications located in a Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility, effective 10/7/23 under SPB 3088.
• The facilities covered by this supplement include Huttonsville Correctional Center and Jail, Mount Olive Correctional Complex and Jail, Western Regional Jail and Corrections Facility, Northern Correctional Facility (including Ohio County Correctional Center), Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, Chick Buckbee Juvenile Center, Vicki Douglas Juvenile Center, Potomac Highlands Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, and Eastern Regional Jail and Corrections Facility (including Martinsburg Correctional Center).
• Employees in this classification receive an annual base building pay differential of $250 each fiscal year after completing one year of service.
• If an employee leaves a Critical Vacancy Pay Facility, the additional $5,000 differential is removed unless they transfer to another qualifying facility.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should have a high school diploma or an equivalent credential, along with four years of full-time paid experience, or the part-time equivalent, in a closely related field. College coursework from an accredited college or university may replace experience at a rate of 30 semester hours for each year of required experience.

A license and/or certification relevant to the duties performed is required. A valid driver's license may also be required.
