Role Overview
This position is for a technician who can service, troubleshoot, modify, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems, as well as related electrical power generation and control equipment. The job involves both routine maintenance and corrective work across a range of generator and HVAC installations, with an emphasis on keeping systems operating safely and within required performance limits.
Key Duties
The selected professional will carry out scheduled preventive maintenance, inspect system performance, and make the adjustments needed to keep voltage, refrigerant charge, current, frequency, and synchronization within specification. The role also includes diagnosing faults, documenting issues, and restoring equipment by repairing or replacing failed parts. Work may involve reading blueprints and technical drawings, using electrician hand tools and test instruments, and supporting multiple generator and HVAC systems and related equipment.
Equipment and system support includes Cummins generator series DGDK, DSGAB, DGBB, C15D6, C35D6, 125D6D, MEPP series 1050, 1070A, PP-3106A, along with use of Cummins InPower software for diagnostics. The technician may also support systems listed under C2 Systems and Associated Support Equipment, ATCALS Systems and Associated Support Equipment, ATC Weather Systems and Associated Support Equipment, C2 Air Control Squadron O&M Support, and Regional Maintenance Center O&M and Support Equipment. Supported units range from 15kW to 250kW generators and 1- to 5-ton split and rooftop HVAC systems.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should hold Universal 608 HVAC certification and have a high school diploma or GED. Relevant background may come from military technical training, vocational college, or a four-year apprenticeship focused on electrical power production maintenance and repair. The role calls for at least four years of hands-on experience with the type of equipment being maintained, plus six months of experience with Cummins Commercial, AMMPS, and InPower software.
Additional requirements include the ability to take on duties beyond the HVAC trade, comfort with basic computer use for online training, timekeeping, and email, and the physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, carrying, and lifting for extended periods. Candidates must also be able to work in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change frequently. The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Security Clearance, which in turn requires US citizenship, as well as the ability to obtain and keep a US CENTCOM medical exam.
