Role overview
This is a remote, hourly contractor position focused on leading quality assurance for HTML/CSS training work. You will review AI-produced markup and styling, assess trainer and QA outputs, and make sure all contributions meet the expected standards for accuracy, clarity, accessibility, responsiveness, maintainability, and project-specific rules.
The role is part of an AI data services organization that supports training data needs for major AI companies and foundation model labs. Your work will help ensure frontend training data is technically sound, easy to understand, and aligned with client expectations.
There is no active project attached to this opening right now. If you are a fit, you may be contacted first when relevant assignments become available through the expert network.
The selection process includes an AI interview, a domain-focused task, and a recruiter interview.
Core scope
You will evaluate HTML/CSS work across areas such as semantic correctness, visual structure, accessibility, responsive behavior, browser support, CSS architecture, formatting, performance, instruction adherence, and rubric compliance. Strong frontend markup and styling knowledge, clear English communication, and excellent attention to detail are essential.
Responsibilities
- Review HTML/CSS tasks, identify quality concerns, and share precise feedback with contributors.
- Check AI-generated code, layout solutions, accessibility corrections, responsive implementations, debugging responses, and written explanations for accuracy and clarity.
- Monitor contributor quality, surface recurring issues, and escalate serious problems when needed.
- Communicate guideline updates, process changes, and review expectations to trainers and QA contributors.
- Answer questions related to semantic HTML, accessibility, ARIA, CSS specificity, layout behavior, flexbox, grid, responsive design, browser compatibility, and rubric interpretation.
- Follow up with inactive contributors, encourage activation, and keep track of availability concerns.
- Build and maintain style guides, trackers, FAQs, examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, and onboarding resources.
- Lead onboarding and training sessions for HTML/CSS contributors.
- Identify inaccessible, misleading, brittle, invalid, or non-production-ready frontend recommendations and flag them appropriately.
- Improve QA workflows by spotting repeated quality gaps and designing scalable review processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, UX/UI, Information Technology, or equivalent hands-on frontend development experience.
- Very strong English communication skills for following instructions, collaborating with teams, and giving clear technical feedback.
- At least 3 years of experience in HTML/CSS, frontend development, accessibility, responsive design, UI implementation, code review, QA, or technical mentoring.
- Solid knowledge of semantic HTML, forms, tables, ARIA basics, accessibility principles, CSS selectors, cascade and specificity, box model, flexbox, grid, positioning, media queries, animations, and modern CSS capabilities.
- Ability to judge HTML/CSS work against detailed rubrics and spot invalid markup, weak responsiveness, layout defects, excessive CSS complexity, compatibility issues, and incomplete explanations.
- Familiarity with browser DevTools, Lighthouse, WCAG basics, Sass, Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap, CSS modules, design systems, Figma handoff, GitHub, CI/CD, and frontend build tooling is preferred.
- Experience guiding or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, frontend engineers, designers, coding mentors, or QA professionals is strongly preferred.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced remote environments using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, GitHub, and project management tools.
- Highly organized, with the ability to maintain documentation such as style guides, trackers, FAQs, onboarding materials, honeypots, calibration tasks, and quality references.
- Background in AI training, data annotation, LLM evaluation, frontend code QA, accessibility review, or rubric-based code review is a strong advantage.
