Role overview
A recognized hospital group is seeking a contract Graphic Designer for a six-month engagement running from ASAP through 12/31. The position is fully remote, but the selected professional must be available during Eastern Time hours. The role calls for prior healthcare experience, along with hands-on exposure to accessibility standards and 508 compliance.
Core responsibilities
- Take ownership of design assignments and deliver work that aligns with the organization’s quality and impact standards.
- Develop polished creative assets across print and digital channels, including web, mobile, email, video, signage, and other media.
- Use established brand guidelines to advise and support internal stakeholders across the organization.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders so that creative output meets project goals and requirements.
- Manage assigned work to stay on schedule and within budget.
- Support and coach junior designers when needed.
- Keep current with evolving design practices, tools, and trends to maintain relevant creative output.
- Contribute design assistance to special initiatives and event-related needs as required.
Required background
- 4–6 years of experience in graphic design, art direction, or a comparable creative role within a marketing or advertising setting.
- Direct experience in healthcare or insurance, including work for systems, insurers, or similar organizations.
- Portfolio demonstrating a broad range of design work and strong visual judgment.
- Experience creating government regulatory documents.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform well under tight timelines.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with others.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing in a team environment.
- Proficiency with relevant design software.
- Preferred exposure to accessible design practices and 508 compliance.
Additional details
The strongest qualifications include general graphic design expertise, prior healthcare design experience, and experience producing government regulatory materials. Helpful but less critical experience includes building accessible forms and working with print vendors. Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, or D-SNP products is also considered an advantage.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is also preferred.
