Role overview
We are seeking an ESG Manager to work from Tabora, Tabora Region, Tanzania. This position reports to the Country Crop Science and Value Chain Director and is responsible for coordinating and driving Environmental, Social and Governance programmes across the business. The role also includes direct liaison with customers on all job-related ESG matters.
Key responsibilities
- Work with the Sustainable Tobacco Program and customer-focused initiatives to help meet ESG sustainability goals and priority strategies, including STP, GAP, MVR, WASH, ALP and related programmes.
- Shape and execute the organisation’s ESG strategy while coordinating wider sustainability activities.
- Handle ESG governance matters and maintain effective engagement with key stakeholders.
- Manage ESG systems, data collection and reporting across CSVC and processing operations.
- Support compliance activities, audits and ongoing monitoring requirements.
- Carry out ESG risk reviews and put in place appropriate mitigation actions.
- Draft ESG policies and SOPs, and promote continuous improvement across the function.
- Lead change management efforts connected to ESG and sustainability priorities.
- Supervise sustainability and forestry teams and help build capability within the function.
Qualifications and experience
- A degree in Environmental Science, Social Science or a closely related discipline is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in ESG or sustainability work is needed.
- Exposure to agriculture or manufacturing environments will be an added advantage.
- Strong project coordination and data analysis skills are important.
- Practical experience in ESG reporting and audit processes is expected.
