Role overview
R2T, Inc. is looking to hire an Ecologist for a GDOT-focused role within its expanding environmental team in the Atlanta, GA area. The company is a civil and environmental engineering organization offering a broad set of engineering services.
About the work
The environmental and ecological work done by the team spans multiple regions across the United States. Past and current experience includes detailed field investigations such as wetland boundary delineations and protected species surveys, preparation of environmental documentation for compliance with NEPA and the Endangered Species Act, creation of ecology materials aligned with Department of Transportation environmental standards, support and coordination for agency consultations including ESA Section 7, and preparation of Clean Water Act Section 404/401 permit applications along with Georgia Environmental Protection Division Stream Buffer Variance applications.
Key responsibilities
- Review environmental and compliance-related documents for quality and accuracy, including materials tied to NEPA, GEPA, permitting, schedule tracking, and GDOT database updates.
- Keep a thorough project record that includes field notes, draft and final reports, correspondence, meeting notes, permits, variances, transmittals, and related documents.
- Liaise with relevant GDOT teams and state or federal agencies whenever coordination is required.
- Support additional environmental services work as assigned by GDOT.
- Help with public involvement efforts when needed.
Requirements
- Typically 1 to 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Technology, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely.
- Comfort working in a team-oriented setting and collaborating with project staff across disciplines.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening if selected.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Compensation
Pay will be decided based on the candidate’s qualifications.
