Role overview
We are hiring a Data Scraping Specialist to gather, structure, and standardize information from public and government sources so it can be used in dependable, analysis-ready formats.
Work schedule
This position follows a Monday to Friday schedule, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM CST.
Key responsibilities
- Find and evaluate public and government data sources that are relevant to the assignment.
- Pull data from websites, APIs, feeds, FTP locations, and online repositories, then transform it into consistent formats.
- Develop reusable, scalable, and maintainable ETL workflows rather than single-use scripts.
- Use Python and web scraping methods such as HTTP requests and HTML parsing to collect data efficiently.
- Check data for inconsistencies, verify sample outputs, and record the approach used for extraction and processing.
- Work with version control tools in Git, follow solid development practices, and keep stakeholders informed clearly.
Skills and requirements
- Proven background in web scraping, data scraping, and extracting both structured and unstructured data.
- Strong programming ability in Python or a comparable language.
- Working knowledge of APIs, HTTP, FTP, HTML parsing, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Advanced English skills with the ability to communicate clearly in writing and in technical discussions.
- Good problem-solving ability to handle complex data acquisition tasks and improve solutions independently.
- Strong attention to data quality, normalization, validation, and documentation.
