Role Summary

As a Data Scientist focused on Computer Vision, you will join a team working on AI experimentation and capability development across images, video, and adjacent audio-related modalities. The work is intended to strengthen AI understanding across different information domains and help lay the groundwork for advanced AI solutions.

Key Work Areas

• Support the creation and delivery of a strategic roadmap for AI capability development, with particular attention to computer vision and multimodal AI.
• Run advanced AI experiments to explore novel approaches for public sector problem-solving.
• Design, build, and improve AI systems and algorithms for computer vision and multimodal use cases.
• Work closely with AI engineers and data scientists on areas such as object detection, image segmentation, video analysis, and related tasks.
• Plan and execute experiments involving newer methods such as vision-language models and large multimodal models.
• Use modern image and video generation techniques for synthetic media generation, dataset enrichment, and content pipeline improvements.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align AI work with organisational and public sector priorities and support deployment readiness.
• Create prototypes and demonstrations to show the value and practical impact of AI capabilities.
• Help establish strong practices for AI experimentation, model development, and solution deployment while sharing knowledge within the broader team.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking someone with a strong technical foundation, experimental mindset, and a collaborative approach to innovation.

• A degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a closely related discipline.
• Solid Python programming ability, along with practical experience in deep learning tools such as PyTorch and computer vision libraries like OpenCV.
• Understanding of multimodal AI systems and hands-on exposure to models such as CLIP, Qwen-VL, LLaVA, InternVL, or MiniCPM-o.
• Experience with generative approaches for image and video creation, such as GANs or diffusion models; knowledge of deepfake detection is advantageous.
• Strong analytical capability and a track record of designing experiments that improve model performance and turn research into real-world application.
• Ability to explain complex technical ideas clearly to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
• A team-oriented attitude, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous learning and innovation.
