Role overview

Grand Canyon Education is hiring a Data Analyst I to support Faculty Services by safeguarding data accuracy, consistency, and useful reporting across multiple systems. This role focuses on building reports, dashboards, and data workflows, while working closely with teams such as IT, Finance, and Marketing to improve operations and support informed decision-making. The position suits someone who is analytical, detail-focused, comfortable working with data systems, and eager to improve processes in a team-oriented setting.

Key duties

  • Pull information from internal and external platforms, verify it for accuracy, and resolve issues before it is used for processing.
  • Create queries, reports, dashboards, and monitoring processes to keep data and metadata accurate and reliable.
  • Review and maintain data-quality procedures, documentation, and business processes across corporate databases and applications.
  • Evaluate Faculty Services needs, automate workflows, and adjust software or processes to better support business use.
  • Interpret performance metrics and feedback data, then communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
  • Maintain consistency and correctness of data used by Faculty Services.
  • Build and connect business processes and data flows between CRM/xRM platforms and other applications.
  • Help design management dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Support deployment of applications identified by leadership to improve value and efficiency.
  • Partner with stakeholders, faculty support, business development, legal, finance, IT, and marketing teams on projects involving requirements gathering, system customization, reporting, and data cleanup.
  • Use SQL guidance as needed to modify software and write queries.
  • Handle simpler projects and issues while developing deeper independence.
  • Work with MS Dynamics/MS CRM and related developer tools at a basic level.
  • Build knowledge of department processes, policies, and related areas such as Faculty Development.
  • Contribute value progressively and move toward working independently.
  • Work under limited or general supervision depending on the task, escalating issues outside authority to management.
  • Provide support to other teams through data administration and source-based data analysis.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on data issues and identify practical ways to fix them.
  • Carry out complex data analysis and prepare reports.
  • Lead customization of reports and user-facing software needs, referring programming concerns to the xRM team.
  • Develop broader knowledge of departmental and university policies and procedures over time.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including working with delimited files using T-SQL.
  • Strong analytical ability with hands-on use of SQL, MS Excel, and MS Access.
  • Basic math skills and an understanding of statistics.
  • Ability to create clear, useful reports and dashboards.
  • Good understanding of business processes from start to finish.
  • Strong attention to detail, planning ability, and analytical thinking.
  • Self-driven, results-oriented mindset.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team.
  • Familiarity with customer relationship software and developer tools.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background investigation.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related field.
  • Preferred: experience in higher education.
  • Equivalent education and relevant work experience may be considered with supervisor approval.
  • At least 1 year of related experience in data manipulation, data governance, query writing, report writing, SQL, database administration, or a similar area.
  • Helpful: experience supporting, launching, configuring, or testing a CRM-based system.

Additional information

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The role is intended for someone who can handle routine assignments independently while continuing to grow into broader ownership of tasks.

Candidate fit

Applicants should be comfortable working across departments, translating business needs into data solutions, and contributing to continuous process improvement. The role is especially suited to a proactive problem-solver who can balance technical work with cross-functional communication.
