About the role
As a Customer Delivery Driver, you’ll represent Tesco on the road and deliver shopping to customers’ homes. The role is varied, active and practical, and it involves much more than driving alone — it’s also about providing friendly service and helping customers in a reliable, considerate way.
The work is physical, hands-on and different every day. You’ll usually work independently while making deliveries, but you’ll have support from managers and colleagues at the store or base whenever needed. The role suits people looking for flexibility, job security or a change in career direction, and Tesco welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.
Availability window and working hours
The expected availability windows for this role are:
- Sunday: 08:00 to 18:00
- Monday: 16:00 to 23:00
- Friday: 15:00 to 22:00
The hourly rate starts at £14.18, rising to £15.45 for stores located inside the M25. Depending on location, extra payments may also be available.
New starters are normally offered a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week. There are also opportunities to work at least 12 hours weekly for candidates who want fewer hours. Contracted hours are scheduled within the availability windows above, and shifts are confirmed with 3 weeks’ notice. Tesco will still consider candidates whose available times are close to, even if not exactly matching, the advertised windows.

- Deliver orders within the customer’s chosen time slot.
- Call the customer before arriving if you expect to be early.
