Role Overview

The Custodian will be responsible for keeping assigned facilities clean, safe, and orderly. The position plays an important part in maintaining a sanitary, professional environment for employees, visitors, and clients.

Key Duties

• Clean and disinfect restrooms, offices, classrooms, shared spaces, and break areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish different floor surfaces.
• Remove trash and recyclables and dispose of them correctly.
• Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
• Wash windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
• Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
• Keep janitorial storage areas and equipment neat, safe, and well organized.
• Use cleaning tools and equipment in a safe and proper manner.
• Follow cleaning schedules, checklists, and required safety procedures.
• Handle chemicals using correct labeling, dilution, and application methods.
• Support event setup and teardown tasks as needed.
• Move, load, unfold, and transport tables, chairs, materials, and related equipment when required.
• Flag maintenance concerns, safety risks, or supply shortages to supervisors.
• Follow all applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Prior custodial or general cleaning experience is an advantage.
• Ability to work on your own and use time efficiently.
• Knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and safe handling practices.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional behavior.

Safety and Physical Requirements

• Ability to repeat tasks for long periods.
• Comfort working with cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent bending, stooping, standing, walking, twisting, and squatting are required.
• Ability to remain standing for six to eight hours per day.
• Good visual and spatial awareness.
• Must follow established safety practices, including requirements related to mobile equipment, PPE, emergency response, HAZCOM, and first aid.
