Role Overview

This is a full-time, on-site position in Sydney, NSW for an experienced Bricklayer. The role involves building and repairing walls, partitions, and other masonry elements using bricks, blocks, and similar materials in line with project drawings and requirements. Day-to-day work includes preparing mortar, setting out jobs, cutting and shaping units, checking levels and alignment, and keeping the work area tidy and safe. You will also need to read construction plans, use tools and equipment responsibly, and work closely with supervisors and other trades to keep projects moving and meet quality expectations.

Key Duties

• Construct and repair masonry features such as walls, partitions, and related structures using bricks, blocks, and comparable materials.
• Prepare and mix mortar to the correct consistency for bricklaying work.
• Carry out setting out, measuring, cutting, and shaping tasks to achieve accurate placement and finish.
• Work from drawings, plans, and specifications to complete work to the required standard.
• Maintain correct alignment, levels, joints, and overall build quality throughout each job.
• Use hand and power tools safely and in line with construction site procedures.
• Keep the site clean, organised, and safe while work is in progress.
• Coordinate with site supervisors, builders, contractors, and fellow tradespeople to deliver work on time.

Requirements

• Proven practical experience in bricklaying, including brick and block laying, mortar preparation, and masonry construction.
• Ability to interpret construction plans, work to specifications, and use measuring tools accurately.
• Strong awareness of workplace safety on construction sites, including proper handling of tools and compliance with safety rules.
• Physical capability to handle manual work such as lifting, bending, standing for long periods, and working outdoors in different weather conditions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills for working effectively with supervisors and site crews.
• A trade qualification or completed apprenticeship in bricklaying or masonry is preferred.
• Experience on residential and/or commercial construction projects in Australia would be an advantage.
• A valid White Card and legal permission to work in Australia are mandatory.
