About Mercury
Mercury is a forward-looking New Zealand organisation that supplies energy and telecommunications to more people across Aotearoa than any other provider. The business is committed to renewable energy and to helping build a more sustainable future. Its purpose is to care for tomorrow by connecting people and places today, with the aim of improving outcomes for employees, communities, and Aotearoa New Zealand.
About the opportunity
Mercury’s Customer business is in an important phase of growth and change. To support this evolution, the company has introduced several new roles to improve accountability, strengthen commercial ownership, and better align its channels so the team remains efficient, customer-focused, and ready for the future.
The Brand & Sponsorship team is a fast-moving group delivering high-impact work, and the company is seeking a Brand Executive to provide the operational support that keeps the function running smoothly. This is an entry-level role for an early-career marketer who wants to understand how a brand team operates from the inside.
You will work closely with the Senior Brand Manager, Social Lead, Sponsorship and Activations Manager, and Brand Operations Manager. Your support will span campaign coordination, stakeholder communication, digital content updates, and agency liaison. This role suits someone who is well organised, comfortable with digital tools, and curious about how strong brands are developed.
Key responsibilities
- Support the Brand & Sponsorship team with everyday coordination so work stays on track, meetings run smoothly, and priorities remain aligned.
- Help manage communications with internal and external stakeholders by preparing materials, coordinating approvals, and ensuring the right updates reach the right people at the right time.
- Assist with brand and campaign reporting by gathering data, formatting reports, and presenting insights clearly.
- Process purchase orders and supplier invoices in line with company financial requirements, while keeping team budget trackers accurate and up to date.
- Maintain and update brand content on Mercury’s website using a CMS platform.
- Support digital marketing activity and work with agencies by tracking briefs, revisions, and deliverables across creative and production partners.
- Assist with campaign delivery tasks such as timelines, asset tracking, approval flows, and brand consistency checks.
What you will bring
- A tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, business, or a similar field.
- One to two years of experience in marketing, brand, communications, or a related administrative role in an agency or in-house environment; graduate or internship experience is also acceptable.
- Strong comfort with digital tools, including CMS platforms, social media, and digital marketing systems, along with the ability to learn new technology quickly.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage several tasks and deliver accurate work on time.
- Clear written communication skills and the ability to adjust tone for different audiences and situations.
- Confidence working with numbers, including spreadsheets, budget tracking, spend monitoring, and reporting.
- A collaborative and proactive approach, with ownership, curiosity, initiative, and a positive attitude.
Why join Mercury
- An extra 5 days of leave each year through the MyDays benefit.
- A one-time tax-free payment of $400 to help set up your home office.
- A diverse workplace that values and encourages different talents and abilities.
- Annual salary reviews, a strong parental leave policy, and the option to buy additional leave.
- Career opportunities and facilities available at one of New Zealand’s largest multi-utility providers.
- A flexible working policy that supports working from Mercury’s purpose-built premises and from home.
- Discounted health insurance, plus free life and income insurance.
- A comprehensive wellbeing programme, including up to $100 each year for health checks and access to a confidential assistance programme.
- Gender affirmation leave and supportive bereavement leave, including for the loss of a pet.
