Role Overview
This position is for an Asbestos Inspector based in Fort St John, British Columbia. The role is primarily on site and may begin as part-time before moving into full-time work. The inspector will visit buildings, structures, and worksites to identify hazardous materials, take samples, and record findings according to company standards and regulatory expectations.
What You Will Do
- Carry out field inspections at buildings, industrial facilities, and project locations.
- Locate, sample, and document hazardous materials in line with internal procedures and legal requirements.
- Collect bulk samples and air samples as part of site assessments.
- Prepare clear and detailed inspection reports.
- Keep accurate records of observations, samples, and conclusions.
- Explain findings and recommendations to project managers, clients, and other relevant parties.
- Follow health, safety, and environmental rules during all field activities.
- Take part in safety meetings and training sessions.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment and sampling tools on site.
Work Style and Environment
The role is well suited to someone who enjoys hands-on work, variety, and time in the field. Projects may involve commercial buildings one day and industrial or remote sites the next. The work can include travel within Northern British Columbia and Alberta, and may occasionally involve sites with especially scenic surroundings.
Preferred Certifications
- Level S+1 WorkSafeBC Certificate
- NIOSH 582 training for asbestos air monitoring
- H2S Alive
- Intermediate First Aid
- Transportation Endorsement
- Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
