Role overview
Monarch Investment & Management Group is seeking an Analyst focused on multifamily housing for its Asset Management team in Kansas City, Missouri. In this position, you will partner with an experienced Asset Manager to review portfolio performance, uncover operating improvements, support acquisition work, and contribute to the success of apartment communities nationwide.
This opportunity suits someone who enjoys working with financial data, solving business problems, and converting analysis into practical recommendations that drive measurable outcomes.
About the company
Founded in 1992, Monarch Investment & Management Group is a privately held apartment owner and operator with a strong national presence. The company manages more than 80,000 apartment homes across 25 states and ranks among the largest multifamily owners in the United States. Its focus is long-term ownership, operational excellence, and investing in team members.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will assess financial and operational results across a varied apartment portfolio while working closely with Operations and Asset Management to improve property performance.
- Review multifamily property operations to spot inefficiencies and summarize findings.
- Examine property financials to identify unusual patterns and performance trends.
- Analyze rent rolls and other income-related reports and communicate key takeaways.
- Provide financial, operating, and rental market analysis to support operations and uncover value-enhancing opportunities.
- Identify and assess the main risks tied to an investment opportunity.
- Create procedures that can be used to audit adherence to internal processes across the portfolio.
- Review current and prospective vendors to confirm the organization is receiving strong value.
- Track capital projects and may be asked to directly manage some of them.
- Support due diligence for underwriting models related to potential acquisitions.
- Check and thoroughly review due diligence documents.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate combines analytical thinking with business strategy and is eager to learn the full spectrum of multifamily real estate investing and operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, real estate, economics, business, or a related discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of experience in financial analysis, real estate, asset management, investments, or another analytical function.
- Experience in multifamily housing is strongly preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to work through large data sets.
- Experience creating and interpreting financial models.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and critical-thinking abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage several priorities while working both independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with Yardi or similar property management systems is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel as needed across the assigned portfolio.
Why this role stands out
This is not a basic reporting position. The role offers direct exposure to executive leadership, involvement in acquisition due diligence, collaboration with operations and asset management teams across the country, and the chance to develop a deep understanding of how large apartment portfolios are evaluated and managed. It is a strong fit for someone building a long-term career in multifamily real estate, investments, asset management, or portfolio operations.
Compensation and benefits
The role offers an annual salary of $65,000 to $75,000, depending on experience.
- 401(k) retirement plan with company matching up to $4,000 per year.
- Paid training and professional development opportunities.
- Tuition reimbursement program.
- Paid time off of 80 hours in year 1, 120 hours in years 2 through 4, and 160 hours after 5 years.
