Overview
This opportunity is posted on behalf of a partner employer, which will handle applications and subsequent hiring steps. The role is for an AI Engineer - Performance Team based in Ireland, working fully remotely from within Europe.
You will focus on making AI products more dependable, accurate, and scalable for a large weekly user base. The position blends experimentation, practical engineering, and analytical problem-solving, with hands-on work across AI agents, evaluation methods, and production performance. It is a strong fit for someone who enjoys improving real-world AI systems, working with LLM technologies, and helping define reliable practices in a fast-moving space.
What You'll Do
- Build, refine, and optimize AI agents so they perform reliably and deliver a better user experience in production.
- Develop and improve evaluation systems that track agent accuracy and uphold quality standards.
- Review user feedback, diagnose performance gaps, and roll out enhancements based on usage data and observed issues.
- Run experiments across prompts, models, agent designs, and workflows to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Support and strengthen AI evaluation infrastructure so it remains scalable, dependable, and cost-aware within CI/CD workflows.
- Keep up with new progress in AI, large language models, and agent tooling, then apply useful learnings to the product.
- Work closely with engineering, product, and design colleagues to ship strong AI-driven experiences.
- Record insights, communicate learnings, and help establish best practices for AI performance.
Requirements
- Working coding experience in Python and/or TypeScript.
- Hands-on exposure to Large Language Models through professional work or personal projects.
- Experience creating, building, or maintaining AI agents and agent-based workflows.
- Good understanding of LLM providers, including their strengths, limitations, and trade-offs.
- Familiarity with AI development ecosystems and tools such as OpenAI APIs and modern agent frameworks.
- Exposure to observability, monitoring, or evaluation tools for AI systems is an advantage.
- Experience with open-source AI models is a plus.
- A background in software engineering, product work, QA, or data-focused roles would be beneficial.
- Strong analytical thinking and a clear interest in experimentation, testing, and ongoing improvement.
- Comfort working in changing or ambiguous environments where processes evolve with the technology.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, collaborative approach across functions.
- Professional fluency in English; Portuguese, Spanish, or Italian would be an added advantage.
