Utility Operator

Job overview

The Utility Operator will support the Cell Relining Operator in refurbishment work on superstructures and in cell relining tasks. The role also involves activities such as pot changing and rebuilding the pot shell, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with standard operating procedures to help maximize production output.

Key responsibilities

This position helps prepare tools and equipment in advance for casting activities and supports the operator during the work process. It includes operating mobile equipment such as forklifts and pay loaders when needed, while strictly following safety rules. The role also contributes to brick lining work according to required standards and designs, and assists with superstructure refurbishment, welding, fabrication, and ramming operations. Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards is also part of the job.

Qualifications and skills

Candidates should have completed the training modules required for the PG5 position. Prior exposure to heavy industry is preferred, with at least one year of experience considered an advantage. Required course completion includes Aluminium/Water Explosions and Electrical hazards. A valid Forklift Licence Category 7 is also needed.
