Role overview

This position sits within the IT group supporting Tangerine’s technology and infrastructure landscape. The team looks after core banking servers, VMware environments, contact center VDI, end-user support, mobile management, network services, voice and data communications, business and web applications, and long-term technical planning.

The Technical Support Analyst role focuses on around-the-clock administration, troubleshooting, and production support for Windows and Linux server environments. It covers physical and virtual infrastructure, VMware ESXi platforms, VDI support for banking and contact center operations, and both production and development systems. The job also includes vulnerability remediation, patching, firmware maintenance, disaster recovery preparation, cloud-related server initiatives, SSO administration, certificate authority operations, and advanced support for critical infrastructure issues.

Key responsibilities

  • Build, configure, maintain, retire, and secure Windows and Linux servers and server hardware in line with internal compliance and hardening requirements.
  • Install, manage, and decommission physical server infrastructure in HPE environments, including standalone and blade setups.
  • Assess new hardware options, replacement needs, and ongoing support considerations for server platforms.
  • Administer VMware ESXi, SRM, and Horizon environments used for core banking, contact centers, VDI, and enterprise workloads.
  • Oversee server capacity, firmware, refresh cycles, and general infrastructure health to ensure stable performance, scalability, and availability.
  • Carry out vulnerability management, remediation, and security patching for Windows, Linux, VMware, and vendor appliances.
  • Maintain server hardening baselines, gold images, and ongoing compliance updates to stay within security thresholds.
  • Support Active Directory-related components, authentication systems, SSO solutions, and certificate authority services.
  • Assist with security audits and infrastructure reviews.
  • Support data center operations across primary and secondary sites to maintain disaster recovery readiness and business continuity.
  • Take part in annual disaster recovery testing and prepare server and virtualization platforms for DR scenarios.
  • Help move server services from on-premises environments to cloud-based platforms.
  • Manage SSO services and certificate authority infrastructure, including production certificate renewals.
  • Provide Level 3 support for urgent infrastructure issues in a 24x7 production setting.
  • Install, support, and maintain department-level server applications for business teams.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotations and remain available with a mobile device to support operational needs.
  • Work with vendors and third-party service providers on infrastructure support and implementation activities.
  • Keep technical documentation, standards, and runbooks current and usable.

Required experience and qualifications

  • A university or college degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical enterprise infrastructure.
  • Strong practical experience with Windows Server and Linux administration.
  • Advanced working knowledge of VMware ESXi, SRM, VRA, Horizon, and VDI platforms.
  • Solid understanding of HPE server hardware, including RAID, NICs, iLO, OneView, and blade systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft System Center, Red Hat tools, and automation platforms.
  • Good grasp of networking basics, security controls, and infrastructure protocols.
  • Strong troubleshooting ability, including root cause analysis and structured problem solving.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
