Specialist III, Data Scientist

About the role

EY is looking for a Specialist III, Data Scientist to contribute to data-led decision making across the business. In this role, you will work within the Client Technology environment, using advanced analytics, machine learning, and big data approaches to uncover patterns, build insights, and support strategic initiatives. You will also help guide junior team members and serve as a key analytics partner for cross-functional work.

Key responsibilities

• Build complex data queries and use programming to extract, transform, and prepare data for statistical analysis and model development.
• Lead diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics work that supports informed business decisions.
• Coach and support junior data scientists and analysts as part of the broader analytics team.
• Spot data quality issues, investigate inconsistencies, document assumptions, and work to close data gaps.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to understand business processes, frame hypotheses, and convert business needs into analytical solutions.
• Support test design, research design, and model validation, while providing statistical guidance on large initiatives.
• Prepare presentations and recommendations that clearly communicate analytical findings to business leaders.
• Design scalable data mining models and reporting structures to detect trends and patterns in large datasets.
• Apply modern data science techniques to business challenges across areas such as marketing, economics, and operations.
• Contribute to the growth of analytics through exploratory research and use of advanced statistical methods.
• Take part in special assignments and additional tasks as needed.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in data science, predictive analytics, or advanced statistical modeling.
• A bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or Computer Science, or a master’s degree/diploma in a related quantitative discipline.
• Strong working knowledge of Python, R, or SQL.
• Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries such as Scikit-learn or TensorFlow.
• Solid understanding of data pipelines, data wrangling, and statistical methods.
• Experience working in big data environments such as Spark or Hadoop.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
• Strong communication, facilitation, relationship-building, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Flexible, adaptable, and creative approach to problem-solving.
• Comfort working with senior executives both internally and on the client side.
