Role overview
This position is suited to someone who enjoys working with electrical systems, mechanics, and hydraulics, and wants to help keep wind turbines operating reliably. It is a hands-on role within a global renewable energy business focused on maintaining high standards of safety and service quality.
As a Service Technician, you will use your technical background in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic work while receiving training that supports ongoing development. The role sits within a service team that supports the maintenance and operational performance of wind farms across Australia.
Work location and schedule
This role is based across regional Australia and is not a FIFO arrangement, so you must already be located in the relevant region.
- Western Australia: Merredin, Jurian Bay, Geraldton
- South Australia: Port Augusta/Whyalla, Millicent/Mt Gambier
- Victoria: Warnambool, Ballarat, Sale
- New South Wales: Canberra/Goulburn, Inverall/Glen Innes
- Queensland: Hughenden, Chinchilla/Dulacca, Atherton
- Tasmania: Musselroe, Granville Harbour
- Working pattern: 8 hours per day, with weekend on-call duty roughly once every 3 to 4 weeks
- Annual travel requirement: about 50 days per year
Key responsibilities
- Carry out work to strict safety and environmental standards while meeting service targets.
- Complete scheduled inspections in line with Vestas specifications, including replacement and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components.
- Help ensure turbines run smoothly, including support for condition monitoring and remote control systems.
- Keep the service vehicle and warehouse operating efficiently by ordering tools, materials, and spare parts when required.
- Assemble and maintain components according to current procedures and work instructions, using internal or external cranes where needed.
Skills and qualifications
- Trade background in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic work, with a strong desire to grow further in these areas.
- Confidence using computers, tools, and systems for monitoring work and recording documentation.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Clear commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to climb wind turbines and perform physically demanding work at heights and in changing weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel to other locations when needed.
- Comfort working in teams and communicating with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Self-driven, practical, solution-focused, and well organised.
