Security Officer

Role overview

Rotary Engineering is looking for a Security Officer to help safeguard a dormitory in Singapore. The role focuses on controlling access, maintaining order, monitoring security systems, and responding promptly to incidents to keep residents, visitors, contractors, and the premises safe.

Key duties

• Manage all entry and exit activity at the dormitory gate for residents, visitors, and contractors.
• Check identification documents such as resident passes and visitor passes before allowing access.
• Carry out security screening and inspect for restricted items when necessary.
• Keep a constant watch on CCTV feeds and security alarm systems.
• Conduct routine patrols across blocks, corridors, shared spaces, and the perimeter.
• Make sure dormitory rules and regulations are followed.
• Work to stop unauthorized access, theft, violence, and other disturbances.
• Act quickly during emergencies including fights, fire alarms, medical situations, and accidents.
• Help control crowds during busy periods such as shift changes.
• Record incidents accurately and prepare daily security reports.
• Liaise with dormitory management and emergency responders when support is needed.
• Assist with evacuation procedures during emergencies.

Requirements

• A valid security officer licence is required, subject to local regulations; in Singapore, PLRD licensing is mandatory.
• Basic security training certification is needed.
• You should be able to stay calm and professional when dealing with difficult or aggressive situations.
• Clear communication skills are important; basic English is commonly expected, and additional languages are an advantage.
• Prior experience in residential or institutional security will be considered a plus.
• Must be able to work rotating shifts.
• The job location is Dormitory @ Paris Panjang, Pepys Rd.
