Role overview
This full-time, on-site Payroll Specialist position in Tirana is responsible for ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time for employees across SPAR Albania’s retail operations. The role requires handling payroll data, wage calculations, statutory deductions, and reporting while maintaining compliance with payroll tax requirements and supporting smooth coordination between HR, Finance, and store teams.
Key responsibilities
- Gather and review payroll inputs to make sure employee data is complete and correct before processing.
- Calculate salary amounts, overtime, benefits, deductions, and other payroll elements with precision.
- Ensure payroll runs align with applicable tax rules and labor-related payroll obligations.
- Administer garnishments and other deduction-related items where required.
- Prepare payroll summaries and reports for finance and management review.
- Handle employee questions related to pay, deductions, and payroll outcomes.
- Maintain organized and accurate payroll records and documentation.
- Support internal and external audits by providing payroll information and explanations.
- Work with HR and Finance to strengthen payroll controls and improve processing efficiency.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in payroll administration and end-to-end payroll processing.
- Good understanding of payroll taxation and coordination with payroll service providers or related stakeholders.
- Experience using payroll systems, HRIS tools, and Microsoft Excel for analysis and reporting.
- Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and respect for confidentiality when handling sensitive data.
- Clear communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with HR, Finance, and store management.
- Background in payroll or accounting is preferred.
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a similar field is preferred.
- Knowledge of Albanian labor law and tax regulations is required; retail or multi-site experience is considered an advantage.
Additional information
This role is based in Tirana and requires working from the office. The position is part of a retail business operating across multiple store locations, so coordination across different teams and sites is an important part of the job.
