Role overview
Based in Malaga, WA, this permanent full-time role sits within the Emergency Services team and supports the readiness of vehicles, trailers, plant and equipment used for emergency response. The work is essential to keeping the depot prepared so teams can respond quickly and safely when disasters occur.
The position reports to the SAES Response Coordinator and is paid under SCHADS Level 4.
Why this role matters
When emergencies happen, communities depend on response teams being ready to move at short notice. This role helps make that possible by ensuring the fleet, equipment and depot operations remain safe, compliant and operational at all times.
Key duties
- Set up and maintain servicing plans for plant, vehicles, trailers and other equipment.
- Arrange maintenance, repairs and replacements with external contractors and suppliers.
- Work with the Property Department on testing, tagging and other facility-related requirements.
- Keep asset records current and confirm equipment remains safe, compliant and ready for use.
- Review Safe Operating Procedures for plant and equipment on an annual basis.
- Deliver instruction and training on safe equipment use and ensure user manuals stay up to date.
- Coordinate volunteers for depot cleaning, repairs and general maintenance support.
- Keep reporting accurate, including updates in Noggin and documentation of incidents.
- Support workplace health and safety by spotting hazards, lowering risks and escalating issues quickly.
- Assist with emergency response tasks such as meal delivery, site setup, pack down and working with catering teams.
What you will bring
- Background in maintenance coordination or a related position involving fleets, assets, facilities or hands-on repair work.
- Experience using mobile plant equipment.
- Confidence working in busy, fast-moving operational settings.
- Strong planning skills and close attention to detail.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with volunteers, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- Current Western Australia driver licence.
- Heavy vehicle licence, MR class or above.
- Forklift licence.
- Senior First Aid Certificate.
- Professional, dependable and well-presented manner.
