Role overview
A logistics company focused on handling perishables is hiring a Line Quality Controller for its bouquet-making operation in Tilisi, Limuru. The business works with fresh-cut flowers, herbs, cuttings, produce, and fruits across major international trade routes.
This position sits within the operations team and reports to the Operations Manager. The successful candidate will oversee quality on the production line, making sure bouquets match customer requirements while production output remains efficient and compliant.
What the role involves
The QC lead is responsible for supervising a production line, carrying out live and final-product checks, and quickly addressing any quality issues before they escalate. The role requires close coordination with team members and other departments to keep production, quality, and dispatch activities aligned.
In addition to inspecting products and processes, the role includes training line staff on product handling, hygiene practices, SOPs, machine use, and GMP standards. Accurate documentation of inspections, rejections, temperatures, output, and coaching activity is also part of the job.
Key duties and accountabilities
- Oversee one production line in the bouquet-making facility while keeping both productivity and quality on track.
- Carry out live and final product inspections to confirm that output matches customer specifications and internal procedures.
- Check intake quality, monitor temperatures, verify post-harvest solution use, and inspect packaging materials.
- Spot quality deviations early, take corrective action, and escalate issues when needed.
- Guide and monitor line staff on flower handling, specification compliance, machine operation, hygiene, and GMP expectations.
- Keep detailed records of inspections, rejected items, temperatures, production activity, and training completed.
- Assist with sample preparation, final product verification, and readiness for dispatch.
- Work with intake, production, supply chain, and quality teams to solve problems and improve line efficiency.
- Ensure hygiene rules, PPE use, and workplace health and safety requirements are followed on the line.
- Handle other tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications and experience
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business, Quality Control, Logistics, or a related field. The employer is looking for someone with at least 2 years of practical experience in sales and marketing, along with strong knowledge of flowers and product handling.
Skills and competencies
The role calls for strong coordination abilities, solid understanding of procurement, inventory control, and logistics workflows, and the ability to interpret data to spot patterns and issues. Good communication, people skills, organization, and time management are essential, especially in a fast-moving environment.
Language and computer skills
The candidate must be fluent in both English and Kiswahili, spoken and written. They should also be able to explain technical and procedural requirements clearly and simply. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is required, along with familiarity with supply chain management software and related tools.
