Lead Project Manager

Role overview

We are looking for a senior lead project manager to head the project management team and steer complex programs and projects within the control tower function. The role sits in a challenging, multicultural setting and requires strong leadership to guide projects from initiation through completion while meeting targets for quality, timeline, and budget.

You will work in an international environment, coordinating with a wide range of stakeholders and aligning resources with business priorities so that delivery supports the bank’s overall objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the portfolio of CIB IT projects, work with department leaders, and set priorities according to business requirements.
• Lead project managers and provide supervision across several concurrent initiatives.
• Serve as the escalation contact for the project management team.
• Build a governance model that supports effective stakeholder coordination.
• Champion the project management function internally.
• Strengthen project management capability through training, coaching, and one-to-one discussions.
• Design control and governance approaches that help deliver expected outcomes across projects.
• Track and assess project indicators and recommend improvements and cost efficiencies for future work.
• Ensure projects are delivered successfully against cost, schedule, scope, quality, and security expectations.
• Work independently on large APAC and EMEA regional IT projects while accounting for local regulations.
• Understand client needs and convert them into detailed and rigorous requirement documents.
• Identify standard and project-specific deliverables, key assumptions, and risks/issues, then follow mitigation actions.
• Spot compliance and regulatory requirements early, keep stakeholders informed, and evaluate the impact of those risks.
• Define, measure, and report project KPIs with the appropriate level of detail.
• Identify the right team resources and assemble or coordinate project members.
• Escalate significant risks and issues to sponsors and local management for action.
• Improve existing processes where needed to make them more effective and efficient.
• Communicate changes to sponsors with the correct level of detail and obtain approval.
• Track and report actual and forecast budget figures to stakeholders and local management.
• Put controls in place to confirm delivered outputs match approved requirements.
• Manage and document handover to production teams.
• Continuously enhance project management toolkits and practices.

Experience and profile

The role calls for at least 8 years of relevant experience, preferably gained in a corporate and investment banking environment.

• Proven leadership and team management ability.
• Capability to see the bigger picture while also breaking down complex issues clearly.
• Comfortable working across functions, regions, and cultures.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
• Excellent communication skills with people at all executive levels.
• Ability to influence and motivate others.

Functional expertise

• Strong command of project lifecycle management and delivery methodologies.
• Ability to anticipate, assess, and manage risks.
• Practical knowledge of infrastructure fundamentals.
• Experience managing multiple projects at the same time.
• PMP or a similar certification is considered an advantage.
