Gym Instructor

Role overview

This full-time, non-management role is based in Doha, Qatar, at a fitness and recreation facility. The position focuses on leading exercise sessions, guiding guests on safe equipment use, and creating a welcoming atmosphere that supports an enjoyable recreational experience.

Key duties

• Lead group fitness sessions such as aerobics, spinning, and strength-training classes for participants of different fitness levels.
• Coach guests individually on correct exercise techniques and safe use of fitness equipment.
• Review each person’s current routine and fitness level, then design tailored workout plans and offer fitness guidance.
• Help maintain a lively, comfortable, and guest-friendly environment in the recreation area.
• Monitor activities in the facility and take appropriate action during emergencies according to local operating procedures.
• Provide first response support to injured guests until medical professionals arrive.
• Keep the recreational space, equipment, and supplies clean and in good working order.
• Contact maintenance or an external service provider when equipment needs repair or servicing.

Safety, service, and workplace standards

• Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to the manager and complete required safety training and certifications.
• Follow company procedures, maintain a polished and professional appearance, and protect confidential and proprietary information.
• Look after company property and assets responsibly.
• Greet all guests according to service standards, recognize guest needs proactively, and assist guests with disabilities when needed.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and colleagues.
• Build positive working relationships, collaborate with teammates, and respond constructively to co-worker concerns.
• Meet quality assurance standards and follow set service expectations.

Physical and operational demands

• Ability to read and verify information in different formats, including small print.
• Ability to visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines for defects.
• Capacity to stand, sit, or walk for long periods or through an entire shift.
• Ability to move, lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds without assistance and over 75 pounds with assistance.
• Manual dexterity to grasp, turn, and handle objects of different sizes and weights.
• Comfort working in narrow, confined, elevated, uneven, slippery, or stair/ramp environments.
• Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Some locations may require additional licensing or registration to be eligible for the role.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and at least 1 year of relevant work experience. No supervisory experience is required. A CPR certification, a First Aid certification, and certification or training in fitness equipment and fitness instruction are required, along with any additional approvals or training mandated by local or state agencies.
