Role summary

This is a full-time, on-site Estimator position based in Leeds. The role involves analysing project documents and drawings, producing precise scaffolding estimates and quotations, and calculating the materials, labour, and time needed for each job. You will work with clients, contractors, and internal colleagues to confirm requirements, review proposed methods, and shape cost-effective solutions. The position also includes maintaining costing records, supporting tender submissions, helping close out project budgets, and contributing ideas that strengthen future pricing and estimating processes.

Key duties

Prepare accurate estimates and quotations for scaffolding projects by reviewing drawings and supporting documentation.

Identify the likely materials, labour input, and time requirements for each project.

Speak with clients, contractors, and internal teams to clarify scope, methodologies, and commercial details.

Update and manage costing databases to keep pricing information current.

Assist with tender preparation and submission activity.

Support discussions aimed at agreeing and finalising project budgets.

Offer practical input to improve future estimating and pricing methods.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate will bring strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving ability, together with the confidence to interpret technical drawings and project specifications. Previous estimating experience in construction, scaffolding, or a related field is important, especially where it includes knowledge of materials, labour rates, and access solutions. You should be comfortable using estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and standard office tools, and be able to communicate clearly with a range of stakeholders. Strong organisation, close attention to detail, and the ability to juggle several tenders and deadlines are essential. A solid understanding of Health & Safety principles and industry standards is preferred, particularly within scaffolding or construction. Vocational or academic qualifications in construction, engineering, quantity surveying, or a related area would be an advantage. A full UK driving licence is required, along with the flexibility to travel to sites and attend meetings when needed.
