Electrical Test Engineer

An established manufacturer in Oldham is seeking an Electrical & Test Engineer to support continued growth across UK and export markets. The business is recognised for innovation, has a solid order pipeline, and offers a long-term opportunity within a well-established production environment.

Role summary

This position is centred on electrical and functional testing, fault diagnosis, and ensuring products meet regulatory and quality standards. The role also includes electrical assembly and wider production support when needed.

What you will do

• Assemble electrical parts, sub-assemblies, and finished products using engineering drawings.
• Prepare units for test by powering them up and completing pre-test safety checks.
• Carry out panel wiring and control system assembly based on wiring schedules and technical drawings.
• Complete mechanical assembly work on sub-assemblies and full units where required.
• Support production builds so output is completed to specification, on time, and to the required quality standard.
• Work in line with ISO 9001:2015 quality procedures and internal control processes.
• Test products according to company methods and procedures.
• Help maintain production flow in line with the plan and supervisor/planner instructions so downstream departments receive the parts and products they need.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on plant and equipment when appropriate.
• Carry out occasional site-based work.

What the employer is looking for

• Hands-on background in electrical testing and fault-finding on electromechanical equipment.
• Practical experience with electrical panel wiring and control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of electrical safety and compliance requirements.
• Experience in a structured production or test setting.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
• Confident diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• 18th/19th Edition qualification is a strong advantage.

Hours and working pattern

The standard working week is 37 hours, Monday to Friday, with overtime available. An alternative 9-day fortnight pattern is also available, giving every other Friday off.

Pay and benefits
