Job Summary
This position is for a practical, operations-oriented Corporate Controller who can take ownership of the accounting organization and help it scale in a rapidly changing, private equity-backed business environment. The role works closely with the CFO and covers accounting operations, financial reporting, revenue accounting, collections, internal controls, tax, and improvements to accounting processes.
The role is central to strengthening financial discipline, standardizing how work gets done, supporting post-acquisition integration, and putting in place the systems and structure needed for future growth.
The right person will combine deep technical accounting knowledge with a track record of leading teams through change, complexity, system changes, and process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Redesign and harmonize accounting policies, workflows, and controls across the business.
- Bring stronger discipline, ownership, and execution to accounting and revenue-cycle activities.
- Oversee accurate and timely financial reporting, including the month-end close, reconciliation work, and protection of balance sheet integrity.
- Work with Sales, Operations, Legal, and senior leadership to improve invoicing, collections, dispute handling, and working capital performance.
- Manage project-based billing and revenue accounting in a high-volume, operationally complex setting.
- Support integration work after acquisitions, including alignment of financial processes, systems, controls, and reporting.
- Lead improvements and integrations in finance systems to increase scalability, visibility, efficiency, and control.
- Build a scalable team structure with defined responsibilities and clear performance expectations.
- Create and track key financial and operational metrics that improve accountability and performance.
- Support cash flow and liquidity efforts through strong balance sheet oversight and disciplined execution.
- Maintain compliance with US GAAP, regulatory obligations, and internal finance policies while preserving a strong control environment.
- Run internal and external audit activities and act as the main contact for auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Partner with cross-functional teams on financial planning, operational analysis, and strategic initiatives.
- Lead a growing accounting function that includes revenue accounting, collections, accounts payable, and general accounting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- CPA certification is mandatory.
- Strong preference for experience with ERP implementations, system integrations, and finance systems optimization.
- Sage Intacct experience is strongly preferred.
- Successful background in private equity-backed, high-growth, or transformation-focused environments.
- Prior experience managing geographically dispersed or multi-entity accounting teams is preferred.
- Experience with acquisition integration, including systems, controls, and accounting workflows.
- Strong analytical ability, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to create structure, enforce accountability, and guide teams through uncertainty and change.
- Capable of combining strategic leadership with hands-on delivery.
- Strong communicator with executive presence and solid business judgment.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities and high execution expectations.
- Physical requirement: extended periods of sitting and computer-based work.
