Role overview
Jones Engineering is looking for a Planner to join its Cork office and support projects across Cork and Limerick. The company has more than 130 years of experience delivering engineering services with a strong focus on quality and client satisfaction. Its work spans Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Sprinkler and Fire Protection, as well as services such as Waste to Energy (BioEnergy), Specialist Lift, Off Site Fabrication, Technical Support Services, Maintenance, Asset Management, BIM (Building Information Modelling) and Geo-Surveying.
What the role involves
- Create construction programmes in collaboration with the Project Manager so they can be aligned and agreed with the client.
- Build schedules that are fully loaded with resources and costs.
- Keep the construction programme up to date throughout the project lifecycle.
- Compare planned progress with actual progress and highlight variances.
- Work closely with site and project teams to identify, record, and track issues that may affect delivery.
- Attend both internal and client site meetings as required.
- Review original budgets against actuals and monitor any scope growth or changes.
- Use the company’s internal project control database for day-to-day planning and tracking.
- Ensure progress information is consistently captured in system updates.
- Monitor output from fabrication shops and site installation activities.
- Use the reporting database to circulate project information to the wider team.
- Lead the preparation and coordination of weekly construction reports.
Skills and experience needed
- A relevant third-level qualification is required.
- At least 3 years of post-qualification experience is needed, preferably in an M&E contracting environment.
- Hands-on experience using Primavera P6 is essential.
- The role may involve travel to or support for other project locations.
