Position Overview
The Chief Financial Officer is the senior-most finance leader in the organization, accountable for shaping financial direction, managing capital, and guiding long-term value creation. This role oversees financial planning, funding strategy, treasury, tax, compliance, investment decisions, mergers and acquisitions, and investor communication. The CFO is expected to act as a key guardian of corporate capital, strategy, and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead the company’s financial strategy, including capital structure and long-range funding plans.
- Oversee global finance operations, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Manage equity and debt financing, including relationships with investment banks and capital markets.
- Support IPO-related activity, refinancing, and broader financing initiatives.
- Evaluate strategic investments and lead financial assessment for mergers, acquisitions, and corporate development.
- Strengthen capital allocation decisions to improve enterprise value.
- Build and maintain financial risk controls, internal control systems, and compliance frameworks across global operations.
- Lead tax strategy and treasury management, with attention to liquidity, cash flow, and capital deployment.
- Drive digital transformation in finance through automation, data-driven analysis, and AI-enabled tools.
- Manage investor relations and communicate with analysts and institutional investors.
- Advise the CEO and Board on financial performance, strategic decisions, and long-term business risks and opportunities.
- Lead and develop global finance teams and create a strong organizational finance capability.
Qualifications
Applicants are generally expected to come from Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Management backgrounds. Credentials such as CPA, CFA, or an MBA are commonly associated with this level of role. The position usually calls for extensive senior finance leadership experience, particularly in large enterprises, capital management, financing, and global financial oversight.
Performance Focus
Success in this role is typically measured through EBITDA and profit margin improvement, stronger cash flow and liquidity, growth in shareholder value, forecasting accuracy, and return on invested capital (ROIC).
Reporting Structure
The CFO generally reports to the Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Directors, and the Audit Committee.
