Assistant Merchandiser

The business is seeking a commercially minded Assistant Merchandiser with strong attention to detail to support department planning and trading. The position involves ownership of reporting, data analysis, and intake management, while helping shape commercial decisions in a role with real influence. The role is based in the central London office.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep WSSI and KPI reporting up to date and use the information to support forecasting and commercial actions, including OTB monitoring and monthly forecast input.
• Assist with in-season trading and maintain the category critical path, using performance data, historical patterns, and competitor insight to guide decisions.
• Independently assess product performance to spot rebuy opportunities, support intake planning, and protect availability of key and core products.
• Manage stock and intake proactively by supporting accurate ordering, phasing, and seasonal planning, while tracking supplier delivery schedules and adjusting intake plans where needed.
• Support and coach junior colleagues, take ownership of MAA development, and step in for the Junior Merchandiser or Merchandiser when required.
• Produce reliable weekly trade reports, line cards, and ad hoc analysis, while maintaining strong attribution accuracy and data integrity across the department.

What We Look For

• Previous experience in a merchandising position, preferably in a fast-paced retail or fashion setting.
• Strong numerical and analytical ability, combined with commercial awareness and a sharp eye for detail.
• Confidence using WSSI and forecasting systems, plus solid Excel and data-handling skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Strong organisation and a proactive approach to balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• A collaborative mindset, with the confidence to support, mentor, and share good practice with others.
• Genuine interest in product, trends, and improving performance through thoughtful decision-making.
