Role overview
STEMstein Academy is looking to add two full-time Academic Advisors in Mississauga, Ontario. In this on-site role, you will support students and their families from the initial enrollment stage all the way through to ongoing academic progress. The position blends academic planning, student guidance, record-keeping, and administrative support, and it suits someone who is organized, student-focused, and committed to creating a positive educational experience.
What you'll do
- Support incoming families as they move through enrollment and onboarding.
- Offer continuous academic guidance and individualized learning support for students in Grades 3 to 8.
- Create, carry out, and monitor learning plans that reflect student objectives and the Ontario curriculum.
- Track student progress and share updates proactively with families.
- Work with tutors so academic strategies stay aligned and effective.
- Keep student files, progress summaries, and communication records accurate and up to date.
- Handle administrative work such as scheduling, academic paperwork, and reporting.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with families, staff, and outside contacts.
- Help prepare academic resources, certificates, and reports for both internal and external use.
- Take part in outreach activities and represent the Academy at events or parent meetings when required.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, child development, or a similar discipline is required.
- Applicants should have 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in academic advising, education coordination, or student support roles.
- Working knowledge of the Ontario curriculum and school structure, especially for Grades 3 to 8, is preferred.
- Strong written and spoken communication abilities are essential.
- Good interpersonal skills and a student- and family-centered approach are important.
- You should be highly organized, attentive to detail, and comfortable managing several priorities at once.
- Experience with Microsoft Office is required; familiarity with Canva, LMS tools, or student management systems is considered an advantage.
- The role calls for someone who can work both independently and as part of a team in a busy academic environment.
