Role overview
Al Khaleej HED is looking for a capable heavy equipment technician to support its operations in Qatar. The role centers on inspecting, servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy machinery to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.
Key duties
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance as well as breakdown repairs in line with service plans.
- Examine, diagnose, and fix heavy machinery including excavators, loaders, bulldozers, graders, dump trucks, and cranes.
- Detect and resolve issues in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and transmissions.
- Use diagnostic tools, software, and technical references to identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems.
- Service and repair diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering, fuel, cooling, and exhaust assemblies.
- Inspect equipment, replace defective or worn components, make necessary adjustments, and carry out road tests to confirm repair quality.
- Read and apply service manuals, schematics, and technical bulletins to troubleshoot faults accurately.
- Follow manufacturer instructions and safety requirements while keeping clear service reports, maintenance logs, and repair documentation.
- Assist workshop and fleet activities by handling spare parts and tools and keeping the work area orderly.
- Replace worn or damaged parts and perform routine servicing, oil changes, and safety inspections.
- Work from service manuals and job cards to complete tasks correctly.
- Adhere to safety procedures and HSE standards at all times.
- Respond to on-site breakdowns whenever needed.
Qualifications and experience
- A diploma in mechanical discipline or an ITI Mechanic qualification is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair is expected.
- Experience with a heavy equipment dealer is preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability is essential.
- A valid Qatar driving licence is mandatory.
