Role summary
Reporting to the Supervisor, Energy & Environment, this position supports the division’s annual workplan through research, data work, reporting, public education, and administrative tasks tied to sustainability, climate action, and energy management. The role contributes directly to the Town’s environmental stewardship and sustainability goals.
Key duties
- Conduct research on climate change, sustainability, energy management, renewable energy, electric vehicles, and related environmental practices.
- Help gather, organize, and interpret environmental, energy, and greenhouse gas emissions data.
- Maintain records, spreadsheets, databases, and tracking tools used for program performance monitoring.
- Assist with the creation of reports, presentations, briefing notes, and Council materials.
- Support community education efforts, events, communication pieces, and general administrative tasks as needed.
Candidate profile
The Town is looking for an engaged student who is entering Grade 12 and has completed Grade 11. Strong organization skills and a genuine interest in sustainability, environmental stewardship, climate change, or energy management are important for success in this role.
The ideal candidate will also bring excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal ability, and the judgment to work effectively in a professional setting where confidentiality matters.
Work location and conditions
This role is based primarily at Town Hall, with occasional travel to other Town facilities when required. The successful candidate must have access to their own transportation.
Compensation and employment notes
This position pays $20.89 per hour and is offered at full-time hours for the summer period. Proof of education and authorization to work in Canada will be required from the selected candidate.
